5 Thing You Need To Know When Choosing An Affiliate
So you have elected to market others products on the internet, but you don’t know how to pick the right product to promote. There are five key factors that you should keep in mind in choosing an affiliate product.
First, you need to know how many others are promoting this particular product. This is pretty easy to determine. You just need to type the product name into any search engine. Look at both the organic results and the paid results. It is not uncommon for everyone to just on the hottest new bandwagon. While there may be profitable if you the first, but it is better if you can find a different or competing product to promote.
One way to find affiliates outside of the hot ones noted above is to look outside the big normal affiliate marketplaces. Many companies offer their own affiliate program directly to the affiliate. You can search for alternative affiliate directories.
Second, you should asses the quality of the product. Many marketers will promote a product with no thought to the quality. You want to develop the reputation has someone who promotes valuable quality products. This is especially true if you are using a blog or website to promote products. If you want customer to come back and see what else you are promoting.
Simple contact the publisher and let them know you are interested in promoting their product as an affiliate and ask for a copy, demo, or sample of the product they are selling. Many times they will send it to you. It doesn’t hurt to ask. If they don’t give it to you you’ll have to make the decision is this somebody I want to promote. If the affiliate program is not listed on one the major affiliate marketplaces, I have found your chances of getting a sample are a lot higher.
The third thing to remember is price. Again many marketers will just promote the product with no though of the price. If they give you a sample or a copy of their product in step to determine is the amount being charge reasonable to provide value to the customer. What price is the competition charge for similar products? Again if you don’t get a sample, this may be tougher to analyze.
Fourth you should know what commission rate is being paid by the publisher. Generally this will be between 50% and 80%. There are always some higher and some lower. The high commission rate does not necessary indicate a bad or nonconverting product. Generally a publisher will offer high rates if they are trying to build a list. Keep in mind the publisher not you will have the name and email address of every buyer. They will market to them again. This is fine for you as you will enjoy the high commission.
